Let Us Promise

I get so disturbed when I read animal abuse on Facebook or in the local or national media. We as animal lovers should pledge to write our state and national elected officials to pass an animal rights act that has some teeth in it. And keep the pressure on until they do they are not doing anything else!!!

Mainly to regulate puppy mills , more stringently, and shut them down at first violation, to allow courts to assess damages to any person who has lost an animal through an…other individuals action, anyone who abuses an animal the offense will be a felony and the individual will pay a minimum fine of $5,000.00. The animal will not be considered a commodity and will be a companion and the value will be placed on not what the person originally purchased the animal for but what years the animal has lived with person and the amount of life that the animal had left. At a rate of $1,000,00 a year.

The shelters and rescues that have to deal with the abuse and consequences should be able to collect the necessary medical expenses to rehabilitate the poor animal. The courts should be able to seize personal property to pay for the expenses incurred by the rescue.

A national registry for animal abusers.

Dog fighting or anyone using any animals for fighting purposes will be prosecuted and the crime will be a crime against mankind and considered a felony. All personal property of the individual running the event will be seized. All spectators will be charges with a misdemeanor and fined $500.00.

Euthanasia in shelters – gassing facilities will be closed down and if it is necessary the animal will be given a sedative before the final shot is given. I have heard of horror stories where the poor animal is just given the final shot without the sedative.

there are sooo many other issues such as people who tire of their animals and bring them back to shelters because the animal has grown old, it is not like trading in your car that is old to buy a new one, or they come up with lame excuses that they have grown allergic after having the animal for years. There should be a registry for these in human, worthless people too.

Food Pantries fo older people who need assistance in keeping their companions there are so many stores and depots that throw away food or other items that are needed because of broken bags, dented cans or outdated shelf life if they were given a tax break. Then in turn a storage facility in the area would donate a unit the items could be stocked and given to needy people who love animals. Just a Thought.

I am retired after working as an industrial mechanic for most of my work career. I am married have had animals friends almost my whole life. This project that I have taken on has given me more satisfaction than my whole work career. So far over 600 beds and 60 cat bunks or towers have been made and donated to various shelters. Some new items were dog bunk beds and cat hammocks. I sleep at night knowing that in a small way we have made a difference in the life of the animals who have received our beds. We have sent beds to Nebraska, Texas, State of Washington and New Jersey. We have helped Eagle Scouts in their projects and in turn they have helped us.
